Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope that you and your children are having a lovely holiday and enjoying the (slightly) warmer weather!  We are looking forward to seeing you again on Tuesday 20th April (Monday is an INSET Day for staff only).

We are writing to let you know about some changes to the drop off and collection arrangements from Tuesday 20th April which we hope will ease overcrowding at the gates and enable social distancing to be more easily maintained.

For most year groups, there will be a one way system around the school grounds so that parents and carers can drop off and collect their children near the classroom doors, rather than at the gates (more information below).

We will be asking all parents and carers who come onto the school site to wear a face mask/face covering and keep 2 metres from other adults. We will also be asking parents and carers to leave as soon as they have dropped off or collected their children to avoid groups gathering on site.

The school office entrance hall will remain closed and we encourage parents and carers to continue to communicate with staff via phone or email where possible, to minimise the number of potential points of transmission. However, members of our Office Team will be able to speak to you briefly outside the front doors if your enquiry is urgent.

Drop off and collection arrangements for SCL Breakfast and After School Clubs will remain the same as last term – SCL staff will meet you at the Red Nursery Gate.

We anticipate that there may be a few teething problems as we all adjust and we will review the new drop off and collection arrangements each day. Please be aware that if there is not enough support for these new arrangements, we will revert back to drop off and collection for all year groups from the gates only.

We are looking forward to welcoming you back onto our school site as we take another step towards more normal times. We hope that you will support us in making these new arrangements for drop off and collection work, to keep us all as safe as possible.

Reception and Year 1 to Year 6

Drop off time for children in Reception and Year 1 to Year 6 will be between 8:40 a.m. and 8:50 a.m. Parents and carers of children in these year groups should enter the school site via the Red Nursery Gate or the Back Alley Gate. These gates will be locked at 8:50 a.m.

Once children have been dropped off at their classrooms, parents and carers should walk around the school site and leave via the Main Green Gate; we ask you to turn right onto Dickerage Lane as families who are late will be queueing on the other side.

Children who are late will need to be brought to the Main Green Gate and their parents and carers will need to queue with their child towards the bridge (on the pavement between the Red Nursery Gate and the Main Green Gate) and wait until all other parents and carers have left the site. A member of the Senior Leadership Team will then write down the names of children who are late and take them into school.

In the afternoon, parents and carers should arrive to collect their children between 3:00 p.m. and 3:10 p.m. and, as above, they should enter the site via the Red Nursery Gate or the Back Alley Gate and leave via the Main Green Gate.

Children in Year 5 and Year 6 who walk to and from school by themselves will need to follow the one way system, too, and will leave via the Main Green Gate each day. They will be dismissed from class just after 3:00 p.m.

Pre-School and Nursery

Due to the location of our Pre-School and Nursery classrooms and the short time between morning and afternoon sessions, the arrangements will be different to those above.

Afternoon Pre-School
