School Superzone - opportunity to receive two free bikes!
As you are hopefully aware, King’s Oak is involved in the School Superzone Project which supports us to try and engage with exercise and healthy eating. We are currently developing the new growing beds which will be up and running this term and the scheme is also providing Brite Box meals each week for one year group - this term is the chance for Year 4 to enjoy the tasty food. A further project to support with community wellbeing and fitness is an opportunity for seven of our families to benefit from two free recycled bikes from Full Cycle. The scheme will provide a child and adult bike and accessories. If you would like to put yourself forward to receive the two bikes, please complete the form here. The closing date will be Friday 2nd February - we’ll let successful families know after this date.
Family Concert at the Rose Theatre on Sunday 24th March
Oompah Brass will entertain their audience with high-octane renditions of well-known rock and pop favourites, as well as introducing the intricacies of each instrument to the children, each member of the group showing off their instrument and its characteristics. The perfect way to start the day!
Oompah Brass are one of the busiest brass quintets in the UK, performing over 100 shows a year, in everything from school classes to Oktoberfest audiences of over 6000 people. They are the original exponents of 'Oompop', the clever re-working of rock and pop classics onto brass instruments and continue to lead the way. Oompah Brass are very keen and active educators, and run many school workshops every year, introducing the next generation to the joys of making music on brass.

New Phonics Books
I am pleased to be able to let you know that we have been able to use £965 of parental donations to the school to purchase new phonics books for the children to use. Your financial support to the school is much appreciated and the new books will hopefully ensure that your child has access to high quality texts which will support them with their reading development.
I hope that the horrendous traffic in the local area has not caused you too much angst this week - it has certainly been challenging for everyone to get to school on time. The current schedule is for the gas works on at the New Malden roundabout with the A3 to be completed by the 2nd Feb so please be prepared for further disruption to the transport network next week!
Have a great weekend.
