KIng's Oak Remembrance
It was such an honour to see King's Oak being represented so well at the remembrance events taking place in New Malden last weekend. There were additional commemorative events as it was the 100th anniversary of the unveiling of the New Malden war memorial. The school entered an art competition at which King's Oak pupils were awarded the first and second prizes. You can see here one of our winners receiving their prize from the Deputy Mayor. King's Oak pupils were also represented in a film highlighting what remembrance means to different members of the New Malden community. You can watch the film here. Well done to everyone who took part in these events and for being such fantastic ambassadors for our school. We also held a silence in school on Monday at 11:00 in which all the children were incredibly respectful and responsible.
Dismissal Safety
Please can I ask everyone to be particularly attentive when collecting your children at the end of the day. We've had a few recent cases of younger children being collected and then making their own way to the exits without their adult in support of them. This could be a problem if they tried to cross a road or went too far ahead and became disorientated and lost. Once your child has been handed over to you, please keep them close and engaged for the safety and wellbeing of everyone on the school site.
Odd Sock Day
Thank you to everyone who participated in our Odd Sock Day this week as we used it to celebrate our engagement with Anti-Bullying Week. It was wonderful to see such an array of colourful socks as we highlighted the fabulous differences that we all have and how unique and special we all are. I hope that the children found it fun and engaging and that the messages and lessons that have taken place this week for Anti Bullying Week have been effective.
I hope that you all have a great weekend - thank you.
