Annual Reports
Most classes have received their annual reports today - the remaining reports will be issued on Monday. The covering letter details the grading systems used in each year group and explains any additional data in the report e.g. end of Key Stage 2 SATs results for Year 6. Teachers will be available in their classrooms to discuss the reports if you have any questions between 15:30 and 16:30 on Wednesday 17th July. Mrs Wilson is not available on this date so she will be ready for visitors on Thursday 18th July between 15:30 and 16:30.
School Council Break the Rules Day
Our fabulous School Council members have decided that they would like to organise a fundraising event to raise money to improve our school grounds. They are running a 'Break the Rules Day' on Friday 19th July. This is not a non-uniform day but children can choose to break one or more of a few school rules in return for a payment of 50p per rule broken. So, your child could wear their normal school uniform but come to school with a crazy hairstyle for 50p or wear nail polish and trainers for £1! Hopefully lots of children will want to support the School Council and get involved.
Summer Reading Challenge
The Summer Reading Challenge this year is called Marvellous Makers. I hope that many children will want to get involved and see if they can achieve the rewards on offer. You can join the challenge at one of our local libraries. They will give you a special collector's pack and help you find books to read for your challenge. You will get to collect stickers and other rewards along the way. Alternatively, take part in the challenge online by signing up here. Set a reading goal and log your books in your profile. Reach your goal and unlock a limited edition online badge and a certificate. Hopefully we can get lots of King's Oak pupils taking part - we'll get to see our participation figures in September!
Governor Updates
We had our final governing board meeting of the academic year on Thursday evening and had a packed agenda to get through. Some of the key items that we discussed were:
- We got to see some of the provisional pupil performance data for this year and were very pleased to see how well our Year 6 children had done in their SATs. The progress that they have made is phenomenal and their hard work and motivation has paid off - well done everyone.
- Now that the Ofsted report has been issued, we got to officially congratulate the school on the brilliant report. Well done to the whole King's Oak team for such a glowing review. The care and nurture that the school provides really shone through - thank you for everything that you all do to support the school.
- We reviewed the School Development Plan from this academic year and started to think ahead for development areas for next year. Areas discussed were developing school expertise on attachment and also looking at how we can reduce our environmental impact by producing less food waste.
