Ofsted Inspection
Huge thanks and gratitude to all the staff team for their amazing dedication, motivation and resilience during our Ofsted inspection this week. Our community of children, parents and governors also rose to the challenge and did a fabulous job of showing the inspector how amazing our school is. It has been a very positive experience - it will take a few weeks for us to get a copy of the inspection report and as soon as we do, we will share it with you all.
Pre School
As you are aware, we have been working with our community to see if we have enough children signed up to make the Pre School viable. I am pleased to say that we do now have the pupil numbers that we need to be able to keep our Pre School open. Moving forward though, we will need Pre School applications in much earlier to allow us to plan for capacity and staffing. If you have or know a child who is approaching two and will want to try and get a space in the Pre School in the future, please complete the application form as soon as possible.
Year 1 and Year 4 Statutory Assessments
When we return after the half-term break, the children in Year 1 and Year 4 will have the opportunity to show their brilliance in their statutory assessments. Year 1 children will be completing the Phonic Screening and Year 4 children will take a multiplication tables check. The children have been well prepared but if you have any opportunity over the break to practise some reading and times tables that would be much appreciated. Parents in Year 1 and Year 4 will receive a separate email with further details about the assessments.
Healthy Eating Week
The week beginning Monday 10th June is Healthy Eating Week. To celebrate this, we have several projects planned.
Firstly, on Friday 7th June we are going to have a non-uniform day. We would like the children to come in dressed as colourfully as possible so that we can think about the 'eat the rainbow' approach to healthy eating. We are also going to use this day to support our healthy eating partner, Brite Box. On this day we would like to collect either a cash donation or a tin of tomatoes that we can send to them.
Secondly, we are promoting the Brite Box Big Cook project. They want to try and break the world record for the largest group of people cooking and eating the same meal at the same time. Between 7th to the 9th June they want to get over 2000 households cooking. You can find more details and the recipe you need to follow at this link. Hopefully with our existing Brite Box families and some more participants, we can help them break the record!
Finally, we are planning a range of activities and competitions to take place during Healthy Eating Week including art activities, class tasting activity and an event in the school hall for children to view presentations linked to the five topics for Healthy Eating Week - eat 5 a day, move more, stay hydrated, focus on fibre and reduce food waste. It promises to be an exciting, healthy and tasty week!
Wishing you all a very relaxing and happy half-term break. We return for the final half-term of the academic year on Tuesday 4th June. Happy holidays everyone!
