Children's Mental Health Week
Next week is Children's Mental Health Week. We have asked the children what activities they would like to complete in order to mark this and they have suggested that we work on the importance of sleep in supporting well-being. All week, the children will be completing activities in class to help understand the importance of a good sleep routine and how this can support well-being - hopefully it will have a positive impact!
Expansion of 2 Year Old Childcare Entitlement
You may be aware that the Government has announced an expansion of the current working families childcare entitlement which is being introduced in phases, the first phase includes 2 year olds.
Due to the expansion we would like to know how best to support our families and community at King's Oak Pre School.
The new entitlement means that from April 2024, where families meet the Working Families criteria they can access 15 hours term time care for children from the term after their 2nd birthday. The working families criteria is the same as that used currently for 3 & 4 year olds and also for Tax Free Childcare.
Full details of the criteria can be found on the Childcare Choices website.
We are keen to find out how we can support our families with this childcare expansion - please can you take some time to complete this short Google Form so that we can find out what anticipated demand could be - thank you - it will close early next week so your urgent attention to this would be appreciated.
Attendance Drop In
Ms Hawthorne, our Pastoral Lead, would like to offer an attendance drop in on Monday mornings. This would be an opportunity to ask any questions regarding your child's attendance, any health concerns or any other matter relating to school attendance.
The drop ins will be held between 8.45am and 9.15am on a Monday morning. You may drop in or book an appointment through the office. If you are unable to make this time, please feel free to call the school and Ms Hawthorne would be happy to arrange a time convenient for you.
Wraparound Childcare Programme
Achieving for Children are seeking the views of parents about the local availability of before and after-school clubs. This is so that they can effectively plan and ensure that there is enough capacity locally for everyone who needs a place. Please support them by completing the five-minute survey at the link here. This has previously been communicated to you all but our school has been highlighted as having a very low response rate - if you could please complete the survey, it would be very much appreciated.
Free Activity Offer for Half-Term
I hope that you have had a good week, it is great that the New Malden A3 roadworks have finally been completed, hopefully the traffic and congestion can start to improve and journeys to school can become calmer and quicker!
Have a wonderful weekend.
