National Education Union (NEU) Industrial Action
The NEU have confirmed the strike action for Tuesday 2nd May. As with the previous strikes, teachers do not have to inform schools of their decision to take industrial action and so the information below could change ahead of or on the day of the strike.
I can currently confirm that the following classes will be open on Tuesday 2nd May.
- Pre School
- Tulips
- 2DF
- 2AC
- 4LM
- 6KK
- 6HR
- 6TW
All other classes will be closed. If on the day of the strike we do have more teaching staff in school to safely open individual classes, we will inform parents by ParentMail by 9:00am so that you can bring your child to school.
If you qualify for a free school meal as well as children in Reception and Year 1 will have already received a ParentMail form to complete about the strike day lunch ordering.
There are a range of online activities such as Mathletics, Times Tables Rock Stars and SATS Boot Camp that your children can engage with on this day. Please see our school website for the online learning links.
Reminder about Coronation event next Friday
Please remember about the non-uniform day next Friday as part of our Coronation celebrations. The theme is red, white and blue - please don’t go out and buy anything specific for this! The classrooms will be open from 8:45 for you to share some Coronation themed fun with your children - we would love to see you if you can visit.
Parent Staff Association Meeting Update
At our PSA meeting this week, the main focus was on the planning and organisation of the Summer Fair which is coming soon - please make sure that you have the afternoon of Saturday 24th June firmly in your diaries as you will not want to miss out. There are many exciting activities and stalls planned - please let the PSA know if you want to get involved in any way - psa.kopsch@gmail.com.
Full Governing Board Meeting
This has been a busy week for meetings as we have also had a Full Governing Board meeting. The meeting was the first for our new Co-Chairs Clive Douglas and Angela Patel and we welcomed our new governors, Glenn Jackson, Jenny Greenfield and Peter Elliott-Smith. We also elected Luiz Simpson to the post of Vice-Chair. The main agenda item was the sign-off for the budget for 2023/24 - there has been a lot of work and discussion about how we can manage our increasingly stretched budget and the challenges ahead with rising costs and less children to go round in the local area!
London to Brighton Charity Walk
While the focus last weekend was on the amazing sporting achievements going on at the London Marathon, a parent from our school was undertaking the challenge of walking from London to Brighton. She was doing this as part of a fundraising event in memory of her son for the charity Momentum. This is a phenomenal achievement and I wanted to share the link to their Just Giving charity page to see if our school community could also show their support - please give generously if you can.
Wishing you all a great bank holiday weekend - see you next week.
