Welcome to the Summer Term! I hope that you all had a great break from school and are now ready and refreshed for the busy term ahead.
National Education Union (NEU) Industrial Action
I am sure that you will have seen in the media about the rejection by all the teaching unions of the government pay and school funding offer. This means that the industrial action is continuing and two future strike days have been announced. These are Thursday 27th April and Tuesday 2nd May.
As with the previous strikes, teachers do not have to inform schools of their decision to take industrial action and so the information below could change ahead of or on the day of the strike.
I can currently confirm that the following classes will be open on Thursday 27th April.
- Pre School
- Tulips
- Blossom Blue
- 2DF
- 2AC
- 3SO
- 6KK
- 6HR
- 6TW
All other classes will be closed. If on the day of the strike we do have more teaching staff in school to safely open individual classes, we will inform parents by ParentMail by 9:00am so that if possible you can bring your child to school.
If you qualify for a free school meal as well as children in Reception and Year 1, you will receive a ParentMail form to complete about the strike days lunch ordering.
There are a range of online activities such as Mathletics, Times Tables Rock Stars and SATS Boot Camp that your children can engage with on this day. Please see our school website for the online learning links.
Information regarding the strike action on Tuesday 2nd May will be sent out next week.
Change to 1FS Class Assembly date
Due to the industrial action taking place next week, we are changing the date for the planned 1FS Class Assembly. This was due to take place on Thursday 27th April but will now be at 9:00 am on Thursday 8th June. Apologies for any inconvenience caused by this date change.
Coronation Event
As part of our celebration of the King’s Coronation, we have planned our own event that we would like to invite you to participate in. On the morning of Friday 5th May, the day before the Coronation, the classrooms will be open between 8:45 and 10:00 for you to share in some Coronation activities with your child’s class. As Year 6 are in full-on SATs preparation mode, their classrooms will be open 8:45 to 9:15 so please head there first if you have siblings to see in other sections of the school. We hope that you will be able to attend to do some craft, music, historical learning and enjoy the festivities. On this day the children will be able to attend school in non-uniform, we are hoping for a red, white and blue theme. The school caterers will also be providing a special lunch menu on the day for our banquet celebrations at lunch time.
