Strikes
On Wednesday and Thursday next week the NEU are planning a two day strike in support of their school funding campaign. It is likely that the school will only be partially open as in the previous strike days. Parents and Carers will get a letter at the start of the week with further information. As before, it would be useful to have thought through child-care options for the two days next week. Hopefully the government will engage in meaningful talks with the NEU so that any further disruption can be avoided.
International Women’s Day
As you may know, Wednesday was International Women’s Day. A group of our Key Stage 2 girls were invited to the Women's Chelsea Football Grounds at Kingsmeadow. The girls took part in a carousel of activities including writing inspirational postcards - celebrating International Women’s Day, coding, workshops promoting mental wellbeing and positive body image, football and yoga. Our girls were a credit to King’s Oak Primary School and thoroughly enjoyed the day! One of the girls said it was 'The best day she had ever had'. The day was very well thought out and organised by the Chelsea football club staff and the girls were thoroughly spoiled, being gifted a Chelsea t-shirt and Nike sports top each, plus an amazing goodie bag. They were also given the opportunity to apply for free tickets for the Chelsea ladies match that night against Brighton and Hove, where Chelsea ladies won 3-1.
World Book Day Celebrations
It has been phenomenal to see such a wide range of creative and interesting costumes in school today as part of our World Book Day celebrations. Thank you to everyone for your efforts and to those parents/carers who were able to join us in class this morning for some reading time together. See what book characters you can spot in the pictures below!
