Polka Theatre - Talking Tales Workshops

The Talking Tales, a two year drama project with the Polka Theatre, is in full swing in Key Stage 1 classes, with children in Year 1 and 2 all enjoying regular drama workshops with Lakeisha Lynch-Stevens (from the Polka Theatre) and their class teachers.
The aim of the project is to develop children’s speaking skills and sessions focus on conversation, explaining, role play and storytelling. Class teachers are also attending termly training sessions at the Polka Theatre and are bringing lots of exciting ideas back into class to develop the children’s skills as well as being creative and having a lot of fun!
As part of the project, as well as Lakeisha delivering drama sessions to each class each half term, the children have also been invited to a performance of Chicken Licken at the Polka Theatre. A letter will be on its way to you giving you more details very soon.
The Talking Tales project is funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation. King’s Oak is one of six schools in South West London that are working with the Polka Theatre as part of the project.
Year 3 and 4 Cross Country

On Tuesday this week, a team of athletes from Year 3 and Year 4 represented the school at a borough cross country event in Hinchley Wood. They had to run two separate routes, each over 1.5km long and featuring some steep hills and rugged terrain. They all managed to complete the course and everyone was very proud of their efforts. Well done to all our runners.
