World Book Day - 6th March 2025
Thursday the 6th March is World Book Day and this year our King’s Oak theme will be based around all the different emotions and the colours we associate with these feelings. As a school, we spend time discussing emotions and how to help the children manage them in a positive way. We would love your child to dress in a colour/costume that represents an emotion to be shared and discussed in class during the day.
On the day, we are very lucky to have Mrs P, a celebrated author, visiting King’s Oak who has written the book ‘Jessie and Jojo’, a book that talks about ‘bother bugs’ and the true meaning of friendship. This book will be available in the next few days for you to purchase via the School Shop on Arbor and the author will sign them for your child on the day.
We look forward to seeing a rainbow of colours on the 6th of March.
KS2 Panathlon

Congratulations to the team of athletes from Key Stage 2 that took part in the Panathlon this week at The Kingston Academy. They had to perform quickly and accurately to gain points in a range of activities including football, basketball, bean bag throwing, bowling, balancing, curling and many more! They did brilliantly and as you can see were very proud of their medals.
PSA Goody Bags

Many thanks to the Parent Staff Association for providing a goody bag for each class. They contained classroom essentials and other items that had been requested by staff - glue-sticks, pencils, white-board pens, fiddle-toys, soaps and so much more! They were very well received and hugely appreciated.

Update from Governors
Governors held our Spring 1 full governing board meeting this week and discussed some great projects that are going on in the school.
We talked about the food waste scheme that the school is implementing and heard about how the school is now able to recycle all food waste from the school kitchen and dining room. The children are now successfully separating the waste and have started to get involved in a project where the food waste will be weighed to see which year groups can reduce their food waste the most. The school will also be working with Caterlink to determine on which days the most food is wasted to see if the menu can be modified to help reduce this.
The board also heard about the progress the school is making towards gaining the Attachment Aware School Award. The whole school team have had training on attachment, brain development and emotion coaching. The whole school project is linked to ensuring that all members of our community feel connected and have a sense of belonging to the school. It was great hear how many new families have joined the school in recent months and governors wanted to give a warm welcome to all new members of our community.
