As part of our RE learning, Year 4 visited the Baituh Futuh Mosque in Morden. We learnt that it is one of the largest mosque complexes in Europe. Inside the mosque, we were able to see some of the features that we have been learning about, such as the mihrab - a space in the wall where the imam stands when he leads the prayer, we saw the dome on the inside of the mosque as well as being shown the Muslim holy book the Quran. We also learnt that not only is the mosque a place of worship but used for other events such as weddings, celebrations and Ramadan/Eid gatherings.
