Nursery

Shape exploration

This week the children have enjoyed listening to the story ‘Little Red Riding Hood’. We have discussed the woods and forests, thinking about what animals we might find there. The children have been thinking about safety and not talking to strangers.

During maths input the children have been learning about different types of triangles and their features. They have enjoyed playing online games, sorting shapes and going on shape hunts around the Nursery.

While in free flow the children have been enjoying the sandpit and water areas. They have been particularly interested in the guttering in our outside environment, exploring how to put it together and how things travel along the guttering. The children have been problem-solving and using their communication skills to see if they could transport the water between trays.

Our story next week is: The Gingerbread Man

Maths: Focus on shape - rectangles
