This week we have been reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar during our carpet time. The story taught us about the life cycle of a caterpillar, as we read the book we learnt about a caterpillar who ate through many different types of food before he turned into a beautiful butterfly. 

As part of this the children had a chance to try all the different types of fruit the caterpillar had eaten, the children carefully chopped up apples, pears, plums, strawberries and oranges. While doing this we were about to use our counting skills and we also spoke about the colours and taste of each different fruit.
