Year 2

Our Week

We started our new book this week, the story of the Three Little Pigs. The children have been learning to describe the main characters and the three little pigs houses, by using expanded noun phrases. They have also started the talk-write and have enjoyed coming up with actions for the story.

In science, we have been looking at the best material for curtains, using new vocabulary - transparent and opaque.

In music, the children have continued to learn the accompaniment on the glockenspiel for Hands, Feet, Heart and are enjoying splitting into two part harmony.

In maths, children have been looking at difference, and then recording this in a bar model and/or number sentence.

We also continued our Black History Month lessons, learning about Floella Benjamin and her career in television and subsequent OBE.

Next week, we will be looking at representing addition and subtraction on a number line, in a part, part whole models.
