Year 2
English, maths and computing...
Year 2 have started a new book this week, The Lonely Sea Dragon by Helen Dunmore. They have been writing character descriptions of the Sea Dragon and looking at precise vocabulary with a focus on verbs, adverbs and expanded noun phrases.
This week, our computing lessons have been focussed on the International Space Station (ISS) and the children have loved using the interactive software to navigate through the ISS with 360 degree navigation. Looking at how they live, work and function every day. It was particularly fascinating to see how the astronauts brush their teeth and go to sleep.
During maths, the children have been looking at position and direction, using positional language like forwards, backwards, between, above, below, left and right. They enjoyed helping Tiny the turtle navigate to the shop, field and museum on the board.
