Year 2
English, DT and more...
The children have now all tried marmalade. First they made marmalade sandwiches, and this week they made marmalade twists. The twists seemed far more popular than the sandwiches.
In small groups, the children unrolled the puff pastry and cut it into halves. Next, they carefully spread marmalade all over one half and folded the second half on top. They took turns cutting it into thin strips and then, using both hands, they gently twisted the strips. Finally, they placed them on a baking sheet, and we popped them in the oven.
By the end of this week, we will be starting our new book, The Tear Thief by Carol Ann Duffy.
In PE next week, we will be creating dance motifs and routines; this follows on from last week when the children were experimenting by creating their own dance moves and steps.
We will start exploring vehicles in DT, learning how to make wheels and axles (both free and fixed).
In science, we will be looking at microhabitats and in PSHE, we will continue to look at citizenship and jobs in our local community.
A plea for boxes; children's shoe boxes, single-serve cereal boxes etc, and lids from glass jars. Thank you.
