In English this half-term, Year 1 have been reading and retelling the story of The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson. The children have loved learning about the journey to towering icebergs and fiery mountains, which has helped us focus on our use of adjectives in our writing. This learning has continued into our Art and DT learning where we have been learning to create snail collages in the style of Henri Matisse and design, sew and evaluate a snail cuddly toy using felt and our new sewing skills.  Here are some of the finished products, we are so impressed by Year 1's sewing skills, the snails look fantastic!
