Year 5
Christmas in France
This week, in our French lessons, we have been looking at how Christmas is celebrated in France. We looked at the French names for Santa and traditions around decorating and food. We found out the French names for the traditional nativity characters and how St Nicholas plays a large role in the celebrations - even before Christmas Day.
On Monday we performed our Christmas production; many thanks to those parents and carers who came and supported their children - they all did so well!
In Geography, we have been learning about economic minerals and their extraction from the Earth. We looked at the difference between quarries and mines and some of the positives and negatives surrounding extraction of economic minerals.
