Year 5
Cricket and writing!
This week, we have continued with our cricket coaching sessions. We have been learning how to bowl the ball using the correct over-arm movements. This was quite hard to get right as we had to make sure, we were holding our arms straight out to ensure the ball went towards its target! We also learned how to be wicket keepers - the correct stance we should hold to be able to move easily to catch the ball as well as the correct way to hold our hands so we could scoop up the ball.
After the planning and composing of our first draft of our description of London during the Tudor period, we edited and up-levelled our writing. We used a thesaurus to find powerful vocabulary and phrases to enable the reader to have a vivid picture in their mind when reading what we had written. We also made improving our handwriting a target - we did a really good job!
Next week, we are going to learn how to write an interesting diary entry written from the point of view of one of King Henry VIII’s courtiers.
