Year 5

Treason!

This week, we started our book ‘Treason’ by Berlie Doherty.  Before we started reading the text, we predicted what the book may be about.  Using our retrieving and inference skills, we wrote our predictions and put them on the wall - I wonder if we will be correct? When we started reading the first chapter, we met the main character, Will, and investigated his relationships with some of the other characters we were introduced to.

In our PSHE lesson, we discussed the qualities of a good friend, how we could make new friends, sustain current friendships and maintain positive relationships with our classmates and our friends.

As we are studying the Tudors this term, in our art lessons, we are going to be painting Tudor portraits. In our first art lesson, we learned and practised how to use a pencil to draw effective heavy and light lines through adjusting pressure and angles of the pencil;  we discovered that to draw straight lines we use a shoulder movement and for curved lines we use our wrists. We are going to use these techniques when completing our final paintings.
