In Year 5 this week we have been learning about area. We started the week by looking at the area of shapes drawn on grids. We then looked at using centimetres squared as a unit of measure. We measured lots of objects around the classroom. We ended the week by measuring larger spaces using meter squares. We worked out a large step is approximately one meter. We used this to help us find the area of the Muga and plastic grass on the KS2 playground. Next week we are looking forward to consolidating and extending our learning about Space and finding out more about forces with our trip to the Science Museum.
