Year 5
Science investigation
We have been learning about gravity and how it was discovered. We discussed the difference between weight and mass. Mass is how much matter is inside an object, which is measured in kilogrammes and grams. Weight is how strongly gravity is pulling something down - measured in Newtons.
We conducted an experiment where we measured the mass of objects using scales and then used Newton meters to measure the weight.
We discovered that gravity pulls objects down with a force of approximately 1 Newton for every 100 grams.
In maths we have started learning how to complete long multiplication calculations; multiplying two, three and four digit numbers by two digit numbers. We will be continuing this next week.
