Year 6

Imperial War Museum

On Wednesday, Year 6 were lucky enough to take part in a workshop with 1st-hand witnesses of war and conflict. Brenda was an evacuee during World War 2 and shared her experiences of living through air raids and going to live with strangers in the countryside. Louis was a soldier in the British Army during the 1980s and shared his experiences as a signaller and assault pioneer with NATO forces. The children came up with lots of excellent questions to help them deepen their understanding. After the workshop, we had some time to walk around the Imperial War Museum galleries and look at the exhibits. This has been an invaluable experience and will really bring our topic to life back in the classroom.
