French
Learning a foreign language improves the knowledge of our own language and teaches and encourages respect for the languages and cultures of others; an essential part of living in a multicultural society. At King’s Oak, it is our intention to ensure that by the time our children leave us, they have acquired an understanding of both spoken and written French and have developed the confidence to hold a simple conversation in French, with others, and understand how important other languages can be in their future.
Our lessons strive to ensure that all children can understand and respond to spoken and written French through using a variety of sources as well as encouraging speech with increasing fluency. Discussions and questioning are encouraged to improve accuracy of pronunciation and intonation alongside writing for different purposes and audiences using the grammatical structures that they have learned.
