Year 5

Road’s End

This week, we have started our new English topic - Road’s End.  We are learning to write a suspense story and to do this, we will write the narrative of the short video and add in our features of suspense.  During our grammar sessions, we have learned the difference between clauses and phrases and the appropriate places to use these.

Topic was fun this week; we learned about Tudor torture. There were no police, and crime - mainly stealing - was widespread mainly among poor Tudors who could not afford the expensive prices.  Punishments were harsh in the belief that they would stop others from committing the same crime.  We discovered that different methods of torture and punishment were used, including the Ducking Stool, The Stocks and The Rack - how barbaric!
