This week in Year 5, we have been learning about money. We have utilised our knowledge of decimals, place value addition and subtraction to support our learning. There are a range of ways to help us understand money, as we have used different representations such as bar models, part-part whole models, number lines and column addition and subtraction. We understand it is important to use money effectively and efficiently, so when we are working out the remaining change, we identified it is easier to round the amount to the nearest pound and then compensate it to achieve our total.
