Year 5
Hampton Court
We had a fabulous trip to Hampton Court; we did so much and saw lots of amazing things. Firstly, we had great fun in the maze - it was very tricky to get to the middle and then out again. So many of us got lost and confused! It was lucky that the grown-ups had the solution.
Inside the palace, we marvelled at the jewel-studded crown and the huge tapestries and portraits that hung on the walls. We spotted the little heads on the ceiling of the Great Hall - called eavesdroppers - which were put there to make sure the court knew that the King would hear everything!
There was an enormous fire in the kitchen and this was only a small one compared to what would have been lit in Tudor times. We were astonished at the size of the cooking pots and pans - a child could fit into the pot where the pie fillings were made!
Next week, we are rehearsing for our Christmas production.
