Year 5

Space

This week, we started our new topic - space.  We watched a video showing exactly how insignificant our planet Earth was when you take into account the whole of space with its millions of stars and galaxies.  We pondered the question, “Could there be life on other planets?”

We then started reading our new book - Curiosity, the story of a Mars rover.  We read the blurb and thought about what scientists would need a Mars rover to do.  After learning about modal verbs and how to use them, we started formulating ideas as to what a Mars rover should have to enable it to function effectively and what equipment it may contain.

Next week, we will be writing a proposal to NASA to pitch our ideas and to persuade them to design and create our rover designs.
