This week we have started our new text "Secrets of the Sun King" by Emma Carol. Our first piece of writing will be a persuasive letter written from the point of view of the main character in the book. This character is desperate to visit her sick Grandad in hospital and needs to convince the nurse to allow her to visit during the school day. To get us warmed up for this piece of writing we have been writing a letter to Mr Hutchings. We want to persuade him that homework is no longer needed in primary school. Above, you can see our "shared write" opening paragraph where we introduce why we are writing and start complimenting our headteacher to try and make him more receptive to our ideas. We all wonder how he will respond.
