Year 6
Topic and RE
This week we have begun our new topic on Early Islam and Ancient Baghdad. We explored chronology to understand when early Islamic civilisation happened in relation to other history topics we have studied throughout key stage 2 including the stone age, Ancient Rome and Ancient Egypt. Working in pairs, we determined key facts about early Islamic civilisation compared with Europe at that time including: using advanced mathematics, millions of books and thousands of readers and clean water and good drainage in cities. We then explored the key aspects of Muhammad’s (pbuh) life through research and collaboration. Applying our English skills, in pairs, we wrote sound bites to summarise what we had learnt and shared it with others.
In RE, we compared Humanist views on life with Christian views. Focusing on how good and bad behaviour is explained as well as whether Christians would agree with the behaviour of people outlined in Genesis.
