This week Year 2 have been looking at the 7 continents and 5 oceans of the world. In addition, they enjoyed learning that the globe can be represented as a flat surface. The children all had a go at peeling an orange in one go, giving them one large, odd-shaped piece of peel, which they then tried to flatten out into a flat surface. We also talked about where the equator was and that countries near the equator were extremely hot and those near the poles, and further away from the equator being very cold.
