Year 6
Welcome back. We hope you are all well rested from the break and are eager to start the Spring Term. Please remember to hand in your holiday homework to your maths teacher.
This week in maths, we have been revisiting the four operations as well as BIDMAS in preparation for next week, when, we will be sitting practice SATS tests.
In English and guided reading, we have started our new book ‘The Sleeper and the Spindle’. In English lessons we have begun to explore a character’s perspective and how this influences their future actions through drama. Over the next two weeks, we will continue to build upon this by applying this perspective when writing a short section of narrative using dialogue to move action on. In guided reading, we have drawn comparisons of the book with the traditional tales of Sleeping Beauty and Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Carefully examining similarities and differences as well as noting anything unusual about the writing styles.
During PSHE sessions, we have continued to think about the zones of regulation and how we can help ourselves regulate our emotions by creating mini tool boxes with practical ideas to try.
