Year 5

Mountain Art
This week, we have been working on our mountain art project. We started by looking at pictures of mountains and then working on drawing these using techniques such as cross hatching. We experimented with different ways in which we could achieve a cross hatching effect - using diagonal lines, straight lines, altering pressure and the distance between the lines. As soon as we were feeling confident, we drew out our mountains and added the cross hatching to produce a three dimensional effect. Next, we looked at the colour wheel and decided which colours would work well as a background thinking about contrast and complementary colours. Using the watercolours, we used various techniques to create a background where all the colours we wanted to use were blended to create a night or evening sky effect. After putting it all together we were very proud of the results!
